The Friend List is a System Application preinstalled on all Wii U systems running on system version 2.0.0 and above. The friend List application can be used to manage friends by: Sending, accepting and declining friends requests, Blocking users and managing your online visibility, to your friends. The Friend List application can be started from the HOME Menu when software is suspended.
This online service remains fully available after the Nintendo Network discontinuation which happened on april 8th 2024. You and your friends can still go online in the friend list, see what others are playing and send and receive friend requests to and from other Wii U users.
Known Issues
- Mii faces have trouble rendering.
- Recently played users can't be displayed. And will cause a soft lock when the nn_fp.rpl and erreula.rpl libraries are pressent in the CafeLibs folder since there is no dismiss button. This is because Cemu doesn't support the service calls required to use the function.
- If you attempt to register a friend with a Nintendo Network ID that doesn't exist then the error viewer outputs an error code (error code 102-0000), even with the erreula.rpl library being present in the CafeLibs folder. This error code will soft lock the emulator as the error does not have a dismiss button when the native error app is present.
- When changing your user comment it won't take affect for you until you restart Cemu, for others it changes normally. The comment is essentially changed, however Cemu doesn't update your comment, so a restart of Cemu is required for it ro be visable for you.
Configuration
- To use the Friend List you have to dump your own online files from your own Wii U as well as enabling online mode within Cemu itself. Follow the Cemu online guide for more information on getting your online files.
- Optional: Cemu is compatible with the native CafeOS friend library: nn_fp.rpl. You can dump it from your own Wii U console. Please keep in mind that the native friend library may cause issues is the application since some services aren't implemented that this library uses. Causes error codes when opening recently played users and changing your user comment. Go to the System RPL Files page for more info about getting CafeOS library files.
