The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD is a 2013 action-adventure game in the The Legend of Zelda series for the Wii U home video game console. Developed and published by Nintendo, it is a remastered version of the 2002 GameCube game, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. The Wind Waker HD expands on the original by introducing native 1080p resolution, an alternative lighting engine, as well as new gameplay features and modifications. The release of the game marked the ten-year anniversary of the international release of the original, and was the first game in the series released on the Wii U.

Known Issues

Picto-Box issue

  • Pictures taken with the Picto Box and the Deluxe Picto Box, are black and not working. As of Cemu version 1.11.0c, the Picto Box takes pictures, but the quest Lenzo's Research Assistant is not able to be completed. A temporary workaround is available in this reddit post.

Nintendo Gallery issue

  • Pictures taken with the Deluxe Picto Box, and given to Carlov will sometimes go unrecognized or identified as the wrong character. As of Cemu version 1.11.3, it is unknown if the Nintendo Gallery is actually possible to be completed. This is due to the fact that some characters may have to be retrieved from random locations in the game unrelated to where the characters are or should be.

Configuration

Some situations where the player has to reflect light may not work. To fix this, make a file named 0005000010143500.ini (USA version) or 0005000010143600.ini (EUR version) in the gameProfiles folder where Cemu is installed.

Latest versions of Cemu already have this files created by default.

Put the following inside it:[1]

# The Wind Waker HD (USA/EUR)

[CPU]
cpuTimer = cycleCounter
emulateSinglePrecision = true

Optionally, there are graphic packs available.

Slight graphical issues, nothing serious. Only sound played is music, no sfx

Loads The game itself runs, however, many of the textures have black spots that flicker all over them, and the game seems to be very over saturated, and anything in the sun turns almost completely white (link looks like a ghost his shirt turns a very light shade of baby blue, his hair is the most godawfully strong yellow you have ever seen). Additionally, the textures seem to blend together a little, i.e. hair sinking into foreheads. The game tends to lag and have slowdowns very frequently, despite my having more than enough horsepower to back it up. I don't know if this is due to some misconfiguration of settings on my part, however, running around in some semi-cluttered areas of Outset Island can drop my frames down to somewhere around 14, while also slowing the game down pretty immensely. Standing still I get a constant 30, while an average of 24 or so if I walk.
1.4.2b Windows 7 USA AMD FX 8320 @ 4.4GHz AMD Radeon R9 390 Darkemaste 15-45 Runs 15-20fps outdoors, 30-45fps indoors, some audio issues. No major changes from 1.4.1

1.5.1 Windows 10 USA AMD Athlon X4 860K AMD R9 280X Flatfire 15 Playable Shading errors create too much bloom on characters. Framerate is stable, but low.
1.5.1 Windows 7 USA AMD FX 8320 @ 4.4GHz AMD Radeon R9 390 Darkemaste 15-30 Runs 15-20fps outdoors, consistent 30fps indoors, and improved audio. Seemingly sill capped at 30fps compared to 1.4.1 and 1.4.2. Low-battery indicator flashes at all times when using Wii U Pro controller in-game. Lighting issues are still present.
1.5.2 Windows 10 USA Intel Core i7-6700K @ 4.00 Ghz Nvidia GTX 1080 Jake 30 Runs Game runs at a pretty solid 27-30 fps even when Link is running. Many textures have black flickering spots and the lighting seems to be a little on the over-saturated side. I haven't progressed beyond Outset Island but so far it seems fairly playable.
1.5.2 Windows 10 EUR Intel Core i5 4460 Nvidia GTX 970 Ashif 15-30 depending on area Runs Very low frame rates at times, audio works fine, visuals still need major work but are okay in 1.5.3 (unreleased to public). Would wait for next few patches before attempting to play this game.
1.5.2 Windows 10 USA Intel Core i5 4690k Nvidia GTX 980 OnlyCompanion 30 Playable Game is playable FPS and sound wise. It is not perfect but can be ignored. Game can not be completed due to a lighting glitch in the Earth Temple that has yet to be resolved.

1.5.3 Windows 10 USA intel Core i7-4790k @ 4.6Ghz nVidia GTX-970 Crystal3lf 30 Playable Some frame drops in areas, not entirely perfect but enjoyably playable!
1.5.5 Windows 10 USA Intel Core i7 6700HQ Nvidia GTX 970m 3GB RDilux 17 Runs Texture glitching is still present outdoor between 10 max 21 fps indoor 30fps
1.5.6 Windows 8.1 USA AMD FX-8320 AMD R9 390 MrX4353 17 / 30 Runs Average of around 17 FPS while outdoors with some rare drops to ~14. Steady 30 FPS while indoors.
1.5.6b Windows 10 EUR Intel core I5 4690K @ 4.3GHGz Zotac GTX 750 TI (Oveclocked) memeita 20-30 Playable The game is playable, but there's some graphical issues, like black textures and glitchy shadows. Frame drops aren frequent, but the game is still playable.
1.5.6b Windows 10 USA AMD-FX-6300 Six Core @ 3.5GHZ Nvidia GTX 970 Proxquiry 15-30 Runs Large frame drops in outdoor areas 15-17fps. Inside is 30fps.
1.5.6b Windows 10 USA Intel Core i5 4690k Nvidia GTX 1070 Knight 30 Playable Game runs fine, average FPS sits around 30. Occasionally will dip into the mid 20's, mostly during indoor/outdoor scene changes or large explosions. Audio plays perfectly.

1.6.0 Windows 10 EUR Intel Core i7 4790k Nvidia GTX 970 LuismaSP89 N/A Unplayable The game crashes unless you select USA console region, "The game is PAL" but cemu detects it as and USA game. This is nonsense, the game was working Ok in 1.5.6.
1.6.0 Windows 7 EUR Intel Core i7-920 Nvidia GTX970 Asper N/A Loads Crashes after saving
1.6.1 Windows 10 USA Intel Core i5-4460 Nvidia Geforce GTX 660 2GB BocuD 28 Playable The game doesn't really have glitches or anything and works pretty well, but when looking at more detailed areas the frame rate drops to 15 fps.
1.6.1 Windows 10 USA Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Nvidia GTX 970 4GB Patman 56 Runs When entering the sword tutorial near the beginning of the game, attacking the instructor results in CEMU crashing. Likewise happens, when entering the house near the instructor's house by the shore.

1.7.0c Windows 10 USA Intel Core i7 4790k Nvidia GTX 1070SC 8GB seriosbrad 15-30 Playable 15 FPS in heavy situations like boss battles, boat travel, and areas with a large view distance. 30 fps indoors and most areas.
1.7.1 Windows 10 USA Intel Core i5 3350p @ 3.5 GHz Radeon RX 480 4GB kamild1996 10-15 Playable Hardly playable, drops to 10-15 fps during very first scenes.
1.7.2c Windows 10 USA Intel Core i5 2500k OCed@4 GHz Nvidia GTX 970 4GB Skeefyj 30 Playable Getting 30 fps except around lava and heat effects. The pictobox is also broken. Other than that no issues 5 hrs in.
1.7.2c Windows 10 x64 USA AMD Ryzen 1700 @ 3.7GHz Radeon R9 280 kilo 30 Playable Runs at 30fps all of the time. Fps dips when big amount of particles (lava inside dragon roost island) but after some research it's a "bug" from CEMU. There is slight texture flicker at times but it's in very rare places and doesn't last very long nor is it that noticeable. Some freeze in some dungeons when opening a door to go to another a room but those last 1 - 2 seconds at worst and aren't always there. If in Ice Ring Isle you fall in the water, it is impossible to get back up as the second wooden log that you need to hook can not be climbed. The game is playable up to the very end but the particles bug slows down heavily the game during specific boss fights which is annoying. Pictobox still broken, the GPU has no problem with a 4K graphic pack at all.
1.7.3d Windows 10 Pro x64 USA Intel Core i5 7600k @ 4.1GHz Radeon R9 380 4GB PepsiWithCoke 30 Playable Runs at 30fps at all times, Noticeable artifacting is present but doesn't affect the playability of the game
1.7.3d Windows 10 Pro x64 USA Intel Core i5 4690k @ 4.4GHz Nvidia GTX 970 4GB TheCraftUnion 30 Perfect Runs at 30fps at all times, as long as precached shaders are used.
1.7.3d Windows 10 Home x64 USA Intel Core i5 4670k @ 4.2GHz Nvidia GTX 970 4GB TamaesyAtoleMX 30 Playable Almost perfect, some minor slowdowns here and there (maybe because cemu´s caching). Already played ´till getting the master sword. Runs amazing at 1080p (updating rating when finishing the game).
1.7.3d Windows 10 Pro x64 USA Intel Core i5 6600k @ 4.6GHz Nvidia GTX 1070 8GB Kronos5959 30 Perfect Runs perfect all the way up to 10K res. I'd like to see 21:9 aspect ratio support if it is possible. A tip if it does not run smoothly for you, try the Cheat Engine speedhack
1.7.3d Windows 10 Pro x64 USA AMD FX 8350 @4.4GHz AMD R9 380 4GB Kronos5959 15-30 Playable Runs smoothly enough, some lag when entering new areas, with some strange visual artifacts.
1.7.3d Windows 10 Home x64 USA i7-4790 @ 3.6GHz AMD R9 390 8GB Cakeofdestiny 20-30 Playable Runs well even in 4K, some minor visual glitches on indoor areas, and slowdowns on particle heavy areas. Some sectors of the map cause major slow downs to around 15 fps, continuously. Additionally, the pictobox doesn't work.
1.7.4d Windows 10 Pro x64 USA Intel i7-4770 @ 3.4Ghz AMD Radeon HD 5700 1GB SilentResident 20-30 Playable Extremely playable, but not perfectly playable. The notorious Black Picture bug which breaks the functionality of the Picto Box and Deluxe Picto Box items, is still there, preventing the 100% completion of the game. The largest side quest in the game requires the capture and evaluation of photos, but the NPCs will always fail to do so, thus rendering the mission impossible.
1.7.4d Windows 10 Home x64 USA Intel i5-4690k @ 3.5Ghz Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 OC 4GB Rosentine ~30 Playable Runs quite good, I have played about 30 min, and FPS where droping from time to time up to 28FPS tops. I've also choosed Pro Controller and mapped XBX 360 controller, the same was done with gamepad, and everything works well. As soon as I beat the game, this note will be updated.
1.8.1b Windows 10 Home x64 USA Intel i5-2500k @ 4.0Ghz AMD Radeon 7970 jebbyderinger ~30 Playable Runs really well, so far graphically perfect with large framerate drops in certain locations. One such location is next to the grandmothers house on the beach but it completely depends on the direction of the camera. Crashed when using the pictobox.

Drops down fps in preloading and some places. P.S.: Windows is installed old driver with him flip textures ingame.
1.9.1 Windows 10 x64 USA Intel i5-6600K @ 4.3Ghz MSI GeForce GTX 1070 X 8GB triaal 30 Perfect Runs incredibly well. 30FPS throughout the entire game with no lag whatsoever. No visual glitches. Shader cache used. Picture box working (as far as I can tell).
1.9.1 Windows 10 x64 USA Intel i7-6900k @ 4.3Ghz SLI NVIDIA GTX 1080Ti FE X 11GB Ratchetrockon 28-30 Playable Runs incredibly well. 30FPS throughout majority of the game. Some minor fps drops to 28 in one segment of Forbidden Woods (more of a stutter which last less than a second) and walking through a few doors. A few minor visual glitches inside of beedles store and in certain areas of dungeons (black flickering on textures but does not affect playability).Complete Shader cache used. Picture box working but the quest is still glitched Lorenzo does not recognize them as legitimate and will not let you pass the 1st objective, I've even tried it full sync w/ g2xDraw at debug menu to no avail.
