The Wii U Menu is the main dashboard of the Wii U, acting as an application organizer and launcher. It is a graphical shell similar to the Wii's Wii Menu and Nintendo 3DS HOME Menu. It allows launching software stored on Wii U optical discs, applications installed in the internal memory or an external storage device, or Wii titles through the system's "Wii Mode".

Known Issues

  • Cemu can't launch system applets from the Wii U Menu.
  • Sometimes some software can't be launched and results in error code: 199-9999. This seems to affect software that doesn't have update data installed.
  • The user Mii image is missing.
  • Many options from the user settings can't be changed.

Configuration

Required system files

Cemu can run the Wii U Menu as a game launcher as of Cemu version 2.0-45. Additionally some system files are required.

  • If the proper system files are not installed into the mlc01 folder of Cemu, the game will simply crash or output an error code upon loading the title's executable (men.rpx). The required files to get the Main Menu working properly can be dumped from the user's Wii U. It is recommended that you do a full system mlc dump to prevent any unexpected issues. Go to this page: Cemu Guide - Using Dumpling for a guide on how to dump files from a Wii U.
  • Some system libraries from the Wii U SLC are required. These libraies are the nn_sl.rpl and drmapp.rpl libraries. For a guide on how to dump these files from your Wii U system, visit the Cemu System RPL Files site.

1.15.12b Win10 v1809 US Intel Core-i7-8700K NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Spudnik 60 Playable The main menu runs as expected, any options selected results in Error Code 155-0262. This is likely due to me not dumping all the required files. This will require more testing will a full Wii U NAND dump.

2.0 Win11 v22H2 IT 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1165G7 Intel Iris Xe Graphics Sansy30 60 Unplayable Sadly, when you start it up on the experimental Cemu 2.0, it's just a black screen. Hope this will be fixed soon.
2.0 Win11 v22H2 EUR 9th Gen Intel Core i5-9600k NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Konsolenzocker 60 Unplayable No rendering, blackscreen. No error message.
2.0-30 Windows 10 22H2 NA Intel Core i7-9750H @ 2.60GHz NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Mobile) TCAtrevor 60 Unplayable At some point, you could load the Wii U Menu by disabling online mode, but that does not seem to be effective anymore. Black screen. v277 (I can note from previous working experiences that having a full NAND dump makes no difference in the ability to run apps on the menu, that is to say it does not work.)
2.0-48 Windows 11 22H2 NA Intel Core i7-10700F NVIDIA RTX 2060 SUPER ArbestRiAgain 60 Playable Only the system applets don't work, Miis in the home menu do not have faces.
2.0-59 Windows 11 22H2 EUR Intel Core i5-9600K NVIDIA RTX 2060 6GB Ntcreate 60 Playable System applets can't be launched (Cemu limitation), all Miis aside from the user Mii doesen't have faces, can only launch software with updates or DLC attached otherwise it immediately results in error code 199-9999 (ticket invalidation?). Gamepad screen is flashing black when switching screens
