Welcome!
This is a comprehensive list of all known current GPU-vendor specific bugs in Cemu.
If a workaround exists, instructions or a guide will noted if available.

Special Notice:
As of the shader system overhaul in Cemu 1.8.0, Cemu now uses seperable shaders and may have an adverse effect/temporary new visual bugs on titles that utilize geometry shaders. (which aren't many)

These issues are known and are currently being looked into.

Update: As of Cemu 1.11.6 conventional shaders have been re-introduced and separable shaders can now be enabled/disabled via an experimental option.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Nvidia GPU-Specific Bugs

  • Excessive amount of RAM used for shadercache

https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1001276/excessive-amount-of-ram-used-by-glsl-programs/

There is no proper fix for that yet., however recent driver update reduced excessive RAM usage by 30%. Another driver update to reduce excessive RAM usage is planned later on.

Comparatively, prior to this driver update Nvidia GPUs used x6 as much RAM as AMD GPUs for shadercache. Additional updated shader benchmark result available here.

  • Artifacts on lava, water, and reflective surfaces

A partial workaround is available, follow this guide to reduce the issue. A partial workaround to fix this issue is a available via a workaround graphic pack

  • Various particles/particle effects not rendered or not rendered properly

Botwnvsmoke.png

A partial workaround for some of these effects is a available via a workaround graphic pack.

  • Occasional distant enemy AI freezing, sand walls, and broken steam/clouds

Nvidia Lynel Frozen

This may be fixed by enabling Full sync at GX2DrawDone() in the Debug menu, however is reported can still happen even with this setting enabled.

  • Black squares and/or missing textures around monks in shrines, when teleporting, or when using ancient equipment.

Botwnv1112ancientparticles4.png Botwnv1112ancientparticles3.png

There is no proper fix for that yet.

Note: The back squares appear white instead when using "accurateShaderMul = min" inside a gameprofile, and can appear red instead when using different clarity graphic pack presets.

AMD GPU-Specific Bugs

  • Additional shadows on grass at certain camera angles/distances

Botwamdgrassshadows.png

A workaround is a available via a workaround graphic pack.

Appears to be related to the game's poor shadow LoDs or "box shadow", the "box shadow" is also present on both the Wii U and Switch and is NOT considered a bug.

Note: This bug is also present on Nvidia GPUs, however is more subtle/less noticeable by comparison.

  • Occasional light rings on ambient/dynamic lighting

Botwamdlightringsa.png Botwamdlightringsb.png

A workaround is a available via a workaround graphic pack.

Note: Is not present on Wine/Linux. Is only briefly present when it occurs and does not appear again afterwards. (See Special Notice)

Intel iGPU-Specific Bugs

  • Excessive/extreme brightness

Botwinteligpu1.png Botwinteligpu2.png

There is no proper fix yet.

Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water / Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water

Nvidia GPU-Specific Bugs

  • Broken/scrambled text and UI elements

Projectzeronvartifacts.png

A workaround is available here.

Monster Hunter Ultimate 3

Nvidia GPU-Specific Bugs

  • Artifacts throughout the entire screen

MH3Unvartifacts.png

A workaround is available here.

  • Black textures on character models and terrain

MH3Unvblackout.jpg

Update to the latest drivers

Intel iGPU-Specific Bugs

  • Black textures on terrain

MH3Uintelblackout.jpg

There is no proper fix for that yet

Xenoblade Chronicles X

Nvidia GPU-Specific Bugs

  • Excessive brightness (aka "over bloom")

XCX4knvob.png XCX4kogdevs.jpg

A workaround is a available via a workaround graphic pack, "const float exposure = 0.52" recommended for NVIDIA.

Note: Latter picture is a 4k screenshot from XCX's devs for visual comparison.

AMD GPU-Specific Bugs

  • Extreme brightness (aka "super bloom")

XCX4kamdsb.pngXCX4kogdevs.jpg

A workaround is a available via a graphic pack,"const float exposure = 0.25" recommended for AMD.

Note: Latter picture is a 4k screenshot from XCX's devs for visual comparison.

Super Mario Maker

Nvidia GPU-Specific Bugs

  • Missing edit grid/various effects

SMMnvgrid.png

There is no proper fix for that yet. A temporary solution would be to rollback to Cemu 1.7.5 until this issue is fixed. (see Special Notice)

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Nvidia GPU-Specific Bugs

  • Lighting changing colors with movement

There is no proper fix for that yet.

Super Smash Bros. U

Nvidia GPU-Specific Bugs

  • Flickering/disappearing objects/effects in certain stages
Sm4sh Nvidia GPU

There is no proper fix for that yet. (See Special Notice)

Mario Kart 8

Nvidia GPU-Specific Bugs

  • Broken/flickering textures on ground in certain courses

MK8nvground.png

There is no proper fix for that yet.

  • Broken shadows in certain courses

1.8.0+ MK8
1.7.5 MK8

A partial workaround is a available by launching cemu.exe with "-amdshadows" parameter, which removes shadows entirely. (see Special Notice)

Note: Is not present in Cemu 1.7.5

AMD GPU-Specific Bugs

  • Multiple shadows in certain courses

MK8amdshadows.png

A partial workaround is a available by launching cemu.exe with "-amdshadows" parameter, which removes shadows entirely. (see Special Notice)
