Xenoblade Chronicles X is an action role-playing video game developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo. Part of the Xeno series of video games, it serves as a spiritual successor to Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii. The game centers on the player's customizable player character, and main characters Elma and Lin Lee efforts to survive and coexist with the indigenous creatures on a hostile alien planet while striving to protect humanity.
Music and voices are too low compared to other sounds. Can be partially fixed by using this workaround.
Voices being overpowered by the comparatively louder music during cut scenes was a common issue in the original game on the Wii U.
After a song is played in game, further replays will have a lot of crackling/popping noises in the background.
As of recent versions, these issues have been fixed.
Manual in-game bug
When selecting the manual from the in game menu, you will be taken to a FrontierNav background page that is empty. There is no way to get out of this screen other than restarting Cemu.
Returning to title screen softlock
When selecting "Return to title screen", the game loads infinitely. Cemu must be restarted if this is the case.
Friend request softlock
When trying to send a friend a request to someone through the game, "Connecting. Please wait..." will be displayed indefinitely. In that case, restarting Cemu is the only option.
Texture/Graphic bugs
Since Cemu 1.8.0, textures go missing or pop in and out. Easily noticeable on grass and plants.
Textures are randomly displayed in purple (rocks, plants, walls...).
Some cutscenes do not work or lag/stutter.
Occasional Crashes
As of Cemu 1.17.4, XBCX has support for Multi-Core Recompilers. Although, it makes the game quite unstable but gives a good boost to performance. (Since Cemu 1.18.0b, this issue may have been resolved, but it's not recommended for long-term play sessions till further testing is done.)
Configuration
This game does not require non-default settings to run properly. Optionally, there are graphic packs available.
Notes
When installing DLC, you might want to skip content\0017, 0018, 0019, and 001a. These are load acceleration data packs for a disc version of the game with the duplicate data.
First cut scene does not play, second cut scene has no audio, characters have no voices, character models are invisible after character creation, game crashed after leaving the first area.
10-15fps in title screen, 20-30fps in cutscenes, 5-10fps in-game, many character model/texture issues, environment/background and weather looks decent.
15-20fps in title screen, 30-50fps in cutscenes, 10-15fps in-game, many character model/texture issues, environment/background and weather looks decent.
Most cutscenes run so slow they have to be skipped (press start and skip.. easy), once in the character select screen game looks mostly fine, except lighting and minute texture mapping issues, but it runs at 28-30FPS for me. However, once in-game it runs at about 15-23 FPS, fluctuating. Surprisingly, besides the character and enemy models flickering in and out of view, the environment looks very spot-on to the original. No major environment issues. The protagonist's face gets mangled easily, though Elma looks perfectly fine in the first scene. You have to be patient with loading screens, as the emulator struggles to load in tandem with the game it will seem to freeze. However, after a couple loading screens, I had alt-tabbed away from the game... while alt-tabbed away CEMU crashed.
15-30fps in title screen, 15-30fps in cutscenes, 10-15fps in-game, many character model/texture issues, environment/background and weather looks decent. First cutscene still has to be skipped and is not played, following cutscenes play with improper audio and appear to maintain a stable fps for the most part. (either 15-20 or 25-30)
Now seems to consistently crash before the title screen when shader cache is present, remove/delete appropriate .BIN file in shader cache folder before loading the game to bypass this. (file name is same as SaveDir in Cemu's titlebar)
Mangled textures of most faces of the protagonist. Game runs as if it was slowed down, but the in game time is sped up 3-4 times. Lighting is messed up, night time seems fine, but when it's day time everything gets extremly biright. Colors also seem to be a lot darker than they are on the console. I made it as far as to NLA without any crashes and I didn't play anything after that. Sound is next to unhearable, distorted and slowed down especially in the cutscenes. It is very difficult to enter the protagnoist's name, but it might just be me being stupid.
Game cycles through day night cycles in about 10 seconds. Day time is completely washed out. Engine is FPS limited so the game just gets slower as FPS gets lower instead of just getting choppy. Game is basically unplayable when you get the area where the town is just from how slow it is. The elevator to get into the town doesn't work at all.
Stretched polygons everywhere, takes a good while to load after starting a new game. Sound plays for a couple seconds then stops. Frequent hangs. Way too much bloom.
10-15fps in title screen, 15-30fps in cutscenes, 10-18fps in-game. Character models/textures no longer stretch, environment/background looks decent. First cutscene still has to be skipped, following cutscene now plays with proper audio and is at a consistent 30fps.
Lighting issue is now present, (excessively bright) appears to be AMD-GPU specific.
killing a enemy made cubes in the air above them and the game is too white (didn't change the brightness) and changing from the first area made some textures go white
FPS outdoors ranges between 8-15fps. Extreme brightness during day time that washes out things so bad, that I can't even see where I'm going. Clicking on affinity links in the menu crashes the game 100% of the time also. I was able to repeat this 5x in a row. The brightness and affinity link menu crashing, is why I selected ""semi-playable"".
Half FPS drop compared to the 1.7.2. I had to change the GraphickPack resolution from 4K to 1080 to get stable 30 FPS. Purple textures and small voices issues are still present. Sometime, some visuals glitches appear on face, body and hairs for characters. Beside that, the game can be completed
The Framerate is the best with this version and the most stable, but the game is not playable, crashes in some islands and there is a day/night cycle bug causing the screen to flicker wich make it prety much unplayable
Very smooth game experience, 30fps with 4K texture packs and shader cache, day/night bug was fixed, but game still randomly freezes, very often in Noctilum, problems with textures and sound. Sound will be fixed in 1.9.0
The game hangs for some seconds then starts playing again frequently, bad performance, very high bloom and sound issues like crackling and white noise. In other words it's unplayable..
Runs pretty good on 1440p sometimes in battle the fps may drop little. You can play from beginning to end with no issues at all. Once a song finishes and loops again white noise will be played alongside the song, the end cutscenes will not be properly played only a green screen appears. Voices are too low to hear due high sound effects(it can be fixed, just google it) and also songs during cutscenes are really loud(i have tried to fix it, but with no luck.Bloom is way high in some areas, but it can be fixed with a graphic pack..
Runs well on 5k resolution. Fps stays at 30 as long as buffer cache accuracy is at low. You can play from beginning to end with minor annoyance issues relating to offline play. The known issues still persist in this version. Graphical bugs still exist such as purple and missing textures. Once a BGM song finishes and loops again white noise/crackling/static will be heard in the background with the song. Voices are still too low to hear due to high sound effects and music(see known issues).
Runs well on 4k/5k. As Mentioned before, known issues still exist in this version, though black/missing textures aren't as common as they were in 1.11.1. Definitely one of the better running games.
Was unplayable after initial landing, constantly crashing every 1-5min, this fixed it basically use a program "Cheat Engine" and set the speed of Cemu to run at 1x speed(normal speed), somehow this fixes crashing. You can even increase the speed of the game to 1.5x or 2x - i have to test this more though, but its very stable now been running 2x in the background as i type this. that's my contribootion keep up the great work! EDIT - OK so prologue was outside and fine, inside NLA chapter one it crashed 3 times with CheatEngine on 2x speed, made it to chapter 2 have to save regularly.
I cannot say that this game is truly playable right now. It currrently does not have multi-core support which makes it limited by CPU power more than many games, and more importantly the audio is unreasonably unbalanced. That being said, the graphics are overall excellent, and I anticipate that the next releases in the coming month or so will fix whatever few graphical issues there are. The largest issue that is the majority of the reason why I currently consider this game not playable is the audio. I have heard others say that even on the Wii U the audio was unbalanced and it was hard to hear people, but I tried listening for it myself on the Wii U and it was just fine. There are serious audio level issues and audio noise that majorly degrades the gaming experience. Both that and the lack of multi-core support made it so I am not willing to play this game right now on Cemu, therefore I think it is safe to deem it not playable for now.
Constant audio crackling and texture glitches. Crashing constantly in sylvalum. The game is playable with crashing every hour until entering sylvalum. Once entering this area crashing becomes much more frequent. Crashes will happen within 1-2 mins in this area. Dual and triple-core recompilers are now supported but extremely unstable, using them will likely cause crashes in all areas in around 5 mins of game time.
Minor texture issues. Encountered audio issues until I switched from DirectSound to XAudio2. Runs really well in Sylvalum and Noctilum, unexpectedly. Overall, 1.14.0c runs Xenoblade Chronicles X extremely well.
Very playable with a mostly consistant 30FPS, dropping by 1-2 frames every now and then, but hardly noticeable. Slight graphical issues of foilage flickering in and out, strange black square pattern only present in the vicinity of buildings in NLA, and screen goes slightly dark for a few seconds when time of day changes (might be in affect of NVIDIA Brightness graphics pack trying not to make the game too bright or dark). Have played for 24 hours with only 1 crash. Getting closer to perfect.
This version introduces an odd graphical issue I can only describe as pink and white particles. I discovered this issue in Noctilum in certain areas. Fortunately, it's actually kind of pretty, rather than an annoyance.
This version (and possibly the previous version) has resolved the aforementioned particle issue. I've also noticed the presence of shafts of light that indicate where your quest is in the vicinity.
CONTAINS SPOILERS READ WITH CAUTION IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE STORY Having now played over 130 hours, there is no doubt the game is playable, but it is still not perfect with new artifacts being present that were not before. Playing at 4K. It stutters a little when there's a rapid change of scenery, other than that it runs smooth, combat does not slow it down lower than 28fps.
