Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water is comprised of three interconnected stories that converge to uncover the truth behind a recent string of tragic deaths in a forest marred by a history of suicides. As one of three people with the power of the Camera Obscura and the ability to see the shadows of those spirited away, you’ll explore the ruins of an eerie inn, a shrine filled with life-size dolls, and a lake full of dead priestesses. Each shadowy location is connected by a stream of water flowing throughout the mountain, and this once holy water is tied to the darkest mystery of all—the history of death and darkness on Mt. Hikami.
Default configuration along with Vulkan API Note! This game do make use of the motion controls of the WiiU Gamepad.
If do not have an input device with motion controls, change the in-game settings to only use the right analog stick.
This will also change the camera view to show up on the TV-screen instead of the game pad view.
You do still need to move camera sideways. Click the right mouse button and hold to move the camera around.
This will also shift the directions of the right analog stick (left and right becomes up and down when going sideways)
Showing the options with the usage of the camera changed to right stick only
This is the view of the camera on-screen after disabling using the gamepad view for camera.
Known Issues
1.17.3 In drop 14, on last boss major graphics glitch, you can see only 1\4 screen, rest 3/4 screen have static graphic artefacts. 1.17.3 Game crash in drop 10, after box cutscene on any emulator settings. 1.17.3 Goes in-game and performs really well under Vulkan with an AMD GPU and NVIDIA. Haven't check yet with intel iGPU.
If you want to use the 60FPS graphic pack for the european and japanese disc copy, change the content of patches.txt to this:

Movie Cutscenes are playable from Chapters 1 to 3. Black screen issues occur in certain in-game cutscenes when any one of your characters reaches for a key item, triggering an in-game cutscene from the action performed to occur, resulting in a Black screen. Chapters 1 to 3 have the option to skip scenes, should a black screen issue occur, and is only a temporary solution, as beyond this point, the game is virtually unplayable, as the option to skip a scene from the game's pause menu is not applicable for further chapters and game progression. Please see additional notes in the game's Compatibility Wiki for the current release version 1.15.10 for further details on this. - Tekmarvl
Same Black Screen Issues exist in these two tested versions of the emulator. The only noticeable difference is that there is now a visible option to skip the cutscene in Chapters 4 and 5.
Doing so still results in the Black Screen issues that were apparent in version 1.15.10, and freezing of the game occurs with audio still playing, while accessibility to the game's Pause menu is no longer operational because of the frozen state. Only option left is to exit out of full screen mode, and manually close / exit the emulator to shut down the current emulation. - Tekmarvl
Cemu crashes after getting Camera Obscura and entering INN. No crash if emulateSinglePrecision = true specified. Major sound problems. Sometimes rendering turns into total chaos.
Goes in-game with but you need to create a gameprofile with "emulateSinglePrecision = true" or it will crash in areas without Interpreter, the game runs with glitches and stutter but very playable, one thing i found out is asides from the graphics problems and the problem with colors if you use the wiiu pad screen the letters you cannot read in normal mode can be readed clearly, the game DOES suffer from hangouts time to time (example on the seccond act you enter the woods and follow up a phantom, once you catch up the game will have a major drop in frames (2 or 3) and will freeze for about 5/7 minutes then resume.
Ran well (25-30fps) until Chapter2, having major fps-drop(3-10fps) in the forest entering the fence.. What's worse is after the cutscene of Hisoka (captured by the ghost), crashed no matter what settings.. Some areas triggered memory leak: had to quickly escape from that area ASAP to prevent crash from out of RAM, also make sure have big RAMs (32 GB in my case).. If you use NVIDIA cards, turn off TileCache via NVIDIA Inspector or RivaTuner to make the screen and text clear without distortion..
Changing back to the the "old" shader cache system makes black screen from the start. FPS counts, music plays, key presses handles, just no any graphics displayed. There was no such bug at 1.7.5. With new shader system game randomly hangs at instant camera view changes and looks like it hangs more when I move mouse.
Crashed at drop 10 after Ren is dragged by Rui to another place.. The graphical problem with the black skin/face of the characters ingame still exists..
still crashes on drop 10 after cutscene where rui drag ren. confirmed only crash in joining ceremony building, run smooth as usual once leave until game finish. (problem solved by switching to older version (i use ver 1.9) and revert back to ver 1.14 after the event end)
Regression! 1.14.0c Broke Camera Obscura view on Gamepad, it's UI textures display but the game render view remains 100% pitch black, making you unable to see what you are aiming at.
This doesn't happen at previous 1.13.2 release, same result with and without CemuHook. Other issues are:
1) In-game Brightness setting doesn't work at all.
2) Audio crackles with annoying static noises all the time, regardless of version and audio settings.
3) Characters suffer from somekind of shader/renderer bug where their models, except for hair and the rest of the scene, become either totally dark, or partially much darker than the scene, or come with weird "square checkers" pattern of correctly bright pixels on a (glitchfully) dark models. I'm attaching an Imgur album showing this exact issue, right here
Configuration notes: disablePrecompiledShaders = true, since when you have them enabled the game is literally unplayable, rendering freezes for 5s~15s whenever new models or effects appear on screen, while game simulation keeps running on.
Runs fine with Cemuhook H264 enabled in Debug. Movie Cutscenes will play up till the third drop (Chapter Three), but will show a blank screen during in game cutscenes. The in game cutscenes can be skipped only up till the third chapter of the game from the pause menu by selecting skip scene to get past the black screen issue. However, when the in game cutscene begins to play in the fourth drop (Fourth Chapter) of the game, where your character Yuri Kozukata tries to wake up the sleeping Ren Hojo in the office of the Antiques shop, the screen will go black, and at this point nothing but the pause menu will work, and progress of the game will stop because there is no option to skip the scene.
Using a completed save to play past the Fourth Chapter where the screen goes black when trying to wake Ren is possible, but then another problem presents itself in the Fifth Chapter when you play as Ren and reach for a video tape that is left on top of a desk. As soon as the cutscene for the action that Ren performs when trying to reach for the video tape on the desk begins, the screen goes black, and progress of the game is again stopped, as the scene is not skippable from the game's pause menu. The Devs of this emulator should address issues like these, instead of ignoring it. It is not an issue with the Cemuhook H264 video plugin being enabled or disabled, as aforementioned before, Movie cutscenes will play just fine from Chapters 1-3. It is the game's own in game cutscenes when a simple action like reaching for an object takes place, that the screen will go black and progress will just cease, yet the pause menu is the only thing that remains functional, and you can either restart from the last checkpoint, or quit the game entirely. At this state for the current release version 1.15.10, the verdict for this game's compatibility is that it runs, but it has a long way to go before it is fully playable.
1.15.11b-1.15.11c - Same Black Screen Issues exist in these two tested versions of the emulator.
Game is still pretty much in an unplayable state beyond the Third Chapter, and nothing has really been done to address the Black Screen and freezing issues that still existed in the prior versions of 1.15.11b and 1.15.10.
Walkthrough full game with DLC on Vulkan API, in drop 8 script not work if use 60 fps pack. Dynamic shadows work incorrect, there are other minor graphic bugs. Game crash in drop 10, after box cutscene on any emulator settings. On last boss serios graphics glitches.
