'''Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water''' is comprised of three interconnected stories that converge to uncover the truth behind a recent string of tragic deaths in a forest marred by a history of suicides. As one of three people with the power of the Camera Obscura and the ability to see the shadows of those spirited away, you’ll explore the ruins of an eerie inn, a shrine filled with life-size dolls, and a lake full of dead priestesses. Each shadowy location is connected by a stream of water flowing throughout the mountain, and this once holy water is tied to the darkest mystery of all—the history of death and darkness on Mt. Hikami. | '''Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water''' is comprised of three interconnected stories that converge to uncover the truth behind a recent string of tragic deaths in a forest marred by a history of suicides.<br />

Movie Cutscenes will play up till the third drop (Chapter Three), but will show a blank screen during in game cutscenes. The in game cutscenes can be skipped only up till the third chapter of the game from the pause menu by selecting skip scene to get past the black screen issue. However, when the in game cutscene begins to play in the fourth drop (Fourth Chapter) of the game, where your character Yuri Kozukata tries to wake up the sleeping Ren Hojo in the office of the Antiques shop, the screen will go black, and at this point nothing but the pause menu will work, and progress of the game will stop because there is no option to skip the scene.
Using a completed save to play past the Fourth Chapter where the screen goes black when trying to wake Ren is possible, but then another problem presents itself in the Fifth Chapter when you play as Ren and reach for a video tape that is left on top of a desk. As soon as the cutscene for the action that Ren performs when trying to reach for the video tape on the desk begins, the screen goes black, and progress of the game is again stopped, as the scene is not skippable from the game's pause menu. The Devs of this emulator should address issues like these, instead of ignoring it. It is not an issue with the Cemuhook H264 video plugin being enabled or disabled, as aforementioned before, Movie cutscenes will play just fine from Chapters 1-3. It is the game's own in game cutscenes when a simple action like reaching for an object takes place, that the screen will go black and progress will just cease, yet the pause menu is the only thing that remains functional, and you can either restart from the last checkpoint, or quit the game entirely. At this state for the current release version 1.15.10, the verdict for this game's compatibility is that it runs, but it has a long way to go before it is fully playable.}}

Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water is comprised of three interconnected stories that converge to uncover the truth behind a recent string of tragic deaths in a forest marred by a history of suicides.
Hikami.
Configuration
Default configuration along with Vulkan API and async compile.
(The CPU-Mode can be changed from Single-Core recompiler too Dual-Core recompiler for this game. It has some intense rendering areas)
Also there is a workaround graphic pack for the 10th drop which needs to be enabled to avoid a crash half-way through.
Note! This game do make use of the motion control feature in the WiiU Gamepad. Check out the motion controls setup guide if you own a controller with this feature!
The game also display the camera on the WiiU Gamepad at default. Either make use of the separate gamepad view feature in cemu or change the in-game camera controls!
If you do not have a controller with motion support then change the in-game settings to only use the right analog stick.
This will also change the camera view to show up on the TV-screen instead of the game pad view.
You still need to move camera sideways. Click the right mouse button and hold to move the camera around.
This will also shift the directions of the right analog stick (left and right becomes up and down when going sideways)
Known Issues
eShop / digital release cutscene issues
The eShop version of the game has issues with all the cut-scenes in the 3rd drop and presumingly the 8th drop "soft-locking".
Solution: You can hit - on you controller to frame-by-frame go through the cut-scenes or skip it entirely.
The disc releases of the game does not seem to have this issue and the cut-scenes play as expected.
Light beam / reflections missing
A crucial light effect is missing, rendering the game way darker then compared to how it appears on the WiiU.
There are some graphic packs that might help a bit on the lighting situation, but not entirely. Keep this in mind if this is your first time playing this game.
Here are some straight up side-by-side comparison screenshots Cemu (on the left) against the Wii U (on the right):
Image source Cemu bug tracker: Bug #351
60 FPS issues
The reaching for objects on the ground animation is cut of short when using the 60FPS graphic pack.
The game becomes a bit heavier for the CPU in some areas, so changing the CPU-Mode from Single-Core Recompiler too Dual-Core Recompiler can be recommended!
10th drop - crashing after the black box
This can be avoided by enabling the "10th Drop Crash Fix" graphic pack.
Right-click on the game in the game list, select graphic packs, tick the box for 10th drop crash fix under the Workarounds-tree.
14th drop - only 1/4th screen visible
When you are reaching the end of the game at the final fight 3/4th of screen will become blurred out when you look at sun if you are using the Vulkan API.
Fixed as of Cemu 1.21.2 (and maybe even before)
Crash on 2nd chapter on Cemu 2.0-59
It crashes at around the scene in 1:02H [1]. Currently there seems to be no fix available.
