Notes

This is going to be here to fill in the gaps around the Game template and the Infobox documentation.

Beginnings

So the first thing you want to do, when creating a new page for a game here on the CEMU wiki, is to follow the Wiki link from the Cemu compatibility list, to make sure you get the right page to create (typically, this will be the game's full English title, except with underscores replacing spaces, as in Yoshi's_Woolly_World, or Assassin's_Creed_IV:_Black_Flag; all punctuation is acceptable. These also should match, when possible, the page name for the game on Wikipedia). Then, go to the game template, linked at the side of the wiki, to copy the general layout for the page. Click the "Create" link at the top right of the page you want to create, and paste the game template text inside. Fill in all of the information you can. You can find a lot of the information you need on the game's Wikipedia page, so it's generally a good idea to find the Wikipedia page first. Remember, everything is case-sensitive (page names, template variables, etc), so make sure to follow the notes for each field, which are found both on the game template page and the infobox documentation.

A picture is worth...

Next, you should find the boxart you want to upload to the server and copy the URL to get to the picture. Make note of the file's extension (jpg, png, etc), as you will need to use that in the next step. Fill in the file name you want to use for the boxart in the template's image field (where it says [File:*.jpg]) as [File:<filename.extension>]. Make sure the extension matches the one for the picture you chose to upload. Then, click the Preview tab at the top to see what you've got so far. When you see the preview, go over to the right-hand side and find the red-link using the filename you chose, right-click on it and open in a new tab or window. In that window, select the second radio button to upload from a URL and paste the link to the boxart in there. Everything else should be set up properly (unless you WANT to add notes to the file; this is not necessary), so go ahead and click OK. You can then close that tab or window.

The Devil's in the Details

After that's done, you need to next fill in as much information as you can in the rest of the game template. Keep the description short, but enough for people who might not want to jump over to Wikipedia to get the gist of the game. Then, fill in any known issues and their workarounds, if any, including notes on how to get the game running. These can usually be found in the notes on the compatibility spreadsheet maintained by Darkemaste. Use only the notes from the test results for the latest version and revision of CEMU that the game has been tested on.

Game IDs

In order to add the Game IDs (the 6-digit ones, such as ARPE01 for New Super Mario Bros. U), you need to find the games listed on Game Title Database. When you have that, enter those 6 characters as a page name at the end of http://malkierian.com/cemuwiki/, and when you create that page, type #REDIRECT [[<page name>]] where <page name> is the page path of the game it belongs to.

When you look on GameTDB, sometimes you will find only one or two IDs listed. However, if you entered more release regions than you found codes for, you can create the codes necessary. For example, on GameTDB, only one code is listed for New Super Mario Bros. U, ARPE01. The fourth character, E, tells us this is the code for the North American region (NA). However, NSMBU was released in the Japanese and PAL regions, as well. So, if we replace the E with P (for PAL) and J (for Japan), we get the game codes for those regions, as well, ARPP01 and ARPJ01. We can take the redirect we made for ARPE01 (shown in that link) and paste that into the other two pages, and then go back to the actual game page and add ?action=purge to the end of the URL to get the IDs to show up in the infobox (for example, http://malkierian.com/cemuwiki/New_Super_Mario_Bros._U?action=purge). The list will be automatically populated by the template.

Everyone Likes a Vid!

The way to use the external video module is also explained in the game template. Please at least take it far enough as to be able to specify the frame and the video size. Don't make the videos smaller than 400px wide or larger than 600px. That way, they're still visible, but don't take up huge amounts of space on the page. The Results Will Astonish You

Finally, the test results. The basic structure is laid out there for you. Basically, you want to group the results by minor version (1.4, 1.5, etc), and collapse everything but the latest minor version. The test results can also be found on the compatibility spreadsheet, and not all will have notes to copy over. Basically, if the notes or FPS are blank on the spreadsheet, you don't need to include them as a variable for the {{testline}} template. As shown in the game template, use the {{testsection}} template to specify the minor version sections, and end each section with another {{testend}} reference.
